Course Detail by Credited Dept Report

The Course Detail by Credited Dept report provides the instructor and class detail that rolls up to the departmental summary. It tells you, for a selected credited department, which  instructors were actively teaching in a given semester, what their title was that term, the classes they received credit for teaching, the academic department their classes were listed in, as well as the enrollments, student credit hours, and class shares that were credited.

Information on instructor work hours and percent teaching provide an indication of whether the class was team-taught or credit was split due to a joint appointment. The share of the class count for a complete crosslisted or roomshared bundle of class listings is 1. So each listing will receive a fraction of the total single class that the bundle represents.

As with other reports, you can move the instructor name or job description to the prompts so that you can filter on the classes for a single faculty member or faculty type (this can also be done for other fields or combinations of fields such as course subject and course name).

Filters

  • Year & Semester: Defaults to the most recent fall or spring semester; you can add summer if you want

  • Snapshot filter is EOT; there is no choice but it is included so that you can be aware of the snapshot

  • Additional filters are not required but are available so you can focus your results on your area of interest

Report

The report results have the instructor’s name, their function or their role in the class, and their title code information (Employee Job Description).

Credited Department vs Listing Department

The first column of the report is the credited department. The next column, Crs Academic Dept Short Nm, is the course academic department, which is the course listing unit. Sometimes the credited and listing departments are not the same departments. One department may be credited for a course because they pay the instructor, but a different department may list the course. That’s an important distinction when you’re looking at this data and we’ve provided both those columns to provide that context.

Team Teaching

When the Pct of Instructor Hrs taught is less than one hundred percent, you know that the instructor was team teaching with another instructor, or the credit was prorated due to the instructor having a split appointment. The value in this column is used to calculate the Enrollment Share, SCH Share, and Class Share metrics.

Crosslisted Course

Cross-listed courses are offered jointly by more than one department. These courses must have identical titles, descriptions, instructional formats, grading options, units, final exam statuses, and University and campus requirement statuses. The Roomshare & Crosslisted Course report has details about crosslisted and roomshared courses.

Roomshare

Roomshared classes occur at the same place, day, and time as another class section in a given semester.
