Drill Down

The links in the Campus Unit column allow you to drill down to these levels:

  • Campus Unit
  • Reporting Clg Short Nm (college or school)
  • Academic Division Short Nm
  • Academic Department Short Nm
  • Major Short Nm

Once you have drilled down, you may want to return to a more summarized view. Do not use the Back button on the browser; this will close the Cal Answers report. Instead, scroll down to the bottom of the report below the row display buttons and select Back from the links in the lower left corner. Back takes you back one step. Return collapses all of the columns so that only Campus Unit is displayed.

Degree Counts Q1

How many degrees were awarded to undergraduates in the 2023-24 academic year?

With the 2023-24 academic year already selected in the prompt from the previous question, simply change the Select Data View to Prorated Degrees Awarded Table. This will then display that there were 9,370 degrees awarded to undergraduates in the 2023-24 academic year.

Why is the number of Bachelor degrees awarded higher than the number of Bachelor degree recipients?

At UC Berkeley, degrees are granted by colleges/schools. An undergraduate who completes simultaneous degree programs (degree programs in 2 or more colleges/schools), receives a degree from each of those colleges/schools. Therefore, the number of degrees awarded is higher than the number of students who received those degrees simply because some students received more than one degree. Importantly, note that students who have a multiple major within the same college are NOT awarded multiple degrees and therefore do not impact the prorated degrees awarded count at the campus level.

How many students in the Arts & Humanities Division of the College of Letters and Science were awarded Bachelor’s degrees in the Comparative Literature major in the 2020-21 through 2022-23 academic years?
