Degrees Earned Dashboard Job Aid

The Degrees Earned dashboard reports contain data about the degrees, certificates, and notifications of candidacy that the university awards to students upon completion of their program requirements.

Headcount Degree Recipients vs. Prorated Degrees Awarded

Because some students earn multiple degrees, this dashboard contains metrics for both the number of students that were awarded degrees and the number of degrees that were awarded.

In cases where students have earned multiple degrees, you can choose to display either headcounts of degree recipients or prorated counts of degrees awarded for multiple majors. Use the Select Data View drop-down list to select the desired metric.

  • Headcount Degree Recipients is the number of students to whom degrees were awarded
  • Prorated Degrees Awarded assigns a fractional share to each major so the total per degree is equal to 1.00

For example, a student who earned a degree with a double major in English and in Comparative Literature would count as 0.50 prorated degrees awarded in each department. In this example, the prorated degrees awarded in the College of Letters and Science Arts and Humanities division would be 1.00 because both of these departments are in the same division.
