This report provides access to a customizable table of degree counts, by academic year, degree level, and campus unit.
Prompts
Use the prompts to filter data by Academic Year, College/School, Department, Entry Status, Degree Level, Division, and/or Major.
Select Report Fields
This report is initially populated with four columns, three for ethnicity and one for gender. When you generate the report, you can select any of the fields with demographic information in the drop-down list.
In addition to ethnicity and gender, you can select any of these columns. We describe the frequently used and less intuitive columns here. The Wiki data dictionary has descriptions of all columns.
-
There are 16 unique values for self-reported ethnicity data for students. These values roll up into a nine-value summary and a four-value summary. See Ethnicity in Student Data Dashboards for a chart showing the values in each of the three columns: Ucb Level1 Ethnic Rollup Desc, Ucb Level2 Ethnic Rollup Desc, and Short Ethnic Desc.
- Gender
- Entry Status Desc: for undergrads, choices include new freshman and advanced standing for transfer students
- Derived Residency Desc: Description indicating official residency status from Campus Solutions regardless of whether the student pays in-state tuition or Nonresident Supplemental Tuition. Values include: CA Resident, Out of State Domestic, International, and Unknown.
- Reporting Clg School Short Nm
- Academic Division Short Nm
- Academic Department Short Nm

Sample Question and Answer
How many Native American/Alaska Native, nonresident undergraduate women in the College of Engineering earned a degree in the 2019-20 academic year?
Make the following selections in the prompts and Apply:
- Academic Year: 2019-20
- College/School: Clg of Engineering
- Degree Level: Bachelor
We can find women with the Gender field and the Native American/Alaska Native with the Short Ethnic Desc field. To find the nonresidents, we will need to change one of the selected fields to Derived Residency Desc.
We don’t need the Ucb Level1 Ethnic Rollup Desc, so let’s exclude that column from the report. Right-click on the column heading and select Exclude column from the context sensitive menu.
We can filter the report data to make it easier to find our answer by moving columns to prompts and then selecting just the values we are interested in. Right-click on the Short Ethnic Desc column heading and select Move column / To prompts. Then select Native American/Alaska Native from the drop-down list.
Now it is easy to see that there was one Native American/Alaska Native woman non-resident that earned a Bachelor’s degree from the College of Engineering in 2019-20.
