We are pleased to announce the Cal Answers Financials Gift & Endowment Reporting dashboard is now live. The Cal Answers Financials team partnered with University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) to develop this dashboard, which is an enhancement of the gift and endowment data currently available in BAIRS. It is intended to help units understand what gift and endowment funds they have available and how they can use those funds. The enhancements in Cal Answers include the ability to:
- Search for funds administered by your department and review the entire fund balances across campus.
- Reconcile transfers from the Foundation ledger by month for funds with activity in both Foundation and campus ledgers, with the Foundation and campus ledger balances displayed next to each other.
- Review key Cal Advancement Data System (CADS) data for gifts and endowments.
Training resources
Please visit the training page on the Cal Answers Financials website to access a Gift & Endowment Reporting job aid, learning map, and link to the Gift & Endowment wiki page, which includes definitions of the terms used in the dashboard and an overview of each reporting tab in the dashboard. There will be demonstrations of the Gift & Endowment Reporting dashboard available on Thursday, January 25 from 3:30pm-4:30pm and Thursday, February 1, from 2:30pm-3:30pm. Please check the Cal Answers Financials webpage for more information on the demonstrations, including how to register.
If you are new to Cal Answers, the next few months are a good time to log in, become familiar with the tool, and think about what will be necessary for the eventual transition from using BAIRS reporting. There are additional training materials on how to use Cal Answers functionality available on the Cal Answers website for new users, including videos and job aids, as well as ongoing training classes on basic Cal Answers navigation.
Access to the Gift & Endowment Reporting dashboard
Access to the Gift & Endowment Reporting dashboard is automatically granted to current BAIRS users who have access to the Financial Reports module and current Cal Answers Financials users. This access includes the Financial Management Reporting dashboard, and is "global financial access," which includes the ability to access compensation and non-compensation data to the transaction level for all of campus.
