The Grad Apps by Multiple Fields report allows you to obtain detailed counts from the graduate admissions data for one or more academic years. You can view headcounts, admit rates, and yield rates for applicants, admits, and statements of intent to register.
Filters
You can filter the data in this report by academic year, semester, applicant status, degree level, derived residency, academic program, college/school, division, department, and academic plan.
Report
The report presents the counts based on the filters selected, organized by College/School, Division, Department, Academic Plan, Ucb Level1 Ethnic Rollup Desc, Gender, and Derived Residency. You can exclude columns you don’t need and include columns not present. Sample Questions
In the 2022-23 academic year, how many different Mechanical Engineering academic plans had applicants?
1. Make these selections in the Filters and click Apply:
- Academic Year: 2022-23
- Applicant Status: Applied
2. In the report, exclude the Ucb Level1 Ethnic Rollup Desc, Gender, and Derived Residency columns. See Customize Reports in the Cal Answers Basic Navigation course to learn about including and excluding columns.
3. Move the College/School column to prompts by right-clicking on the column heading and selecting Move Column / To Prompts.
4. Select Clg of Engineering from the College/School drop-down list.
5. Move Department to prompts and select Mechanical Engineering from the drop-down list.
For the Mechanical Engineering PhD plan, how many students applied, were admitted, and accepted the offer of admission (SIR)?
1. Move Academic Plan to Prompts and select Mechanical Engineering PhD program.
2. From the last question, the Applicant Status filter is set to Applied. To get the number of students admitted, change the filter to Admitted and click Apply.
3. To get the number of students that submitted a statement of intent to register, change the filter to SIRed.
In the 2022-23 academic year, in the School of Public Health, which academic subplan in the Public Health MPH plan had the greatest number of applicants?
1. To clear the filter and report settings from the previous question, go the filters section and open the Reset drop-down and select Clear All. Then click Apply.
2. Make these selections in the Filters and click Apply:
- Academic Year: 2022-23
- Applicant Status: Applied
- College/School: School of Public Health
3. The report has a column for Academic Plan, but not one for Subplan. Right-click on Academic Plan and select Include column. Then select Subplan. If you need help with including, excluding, or moving columns, see Customize Reports in the Cal Answers Basic Navigation course.
4. Remove these columns: Ucb Level1 Ethnic Rollup Desc, Gender, and Derived Residency.
5. Move the Academic Plan column to Prompts and select Public Health MPH.
6. Sort the Applied Headcount column in descending order.
