Visual Design

June 20, 2014 - Allison Bloodworth, Hulda Nelson, and Laurie Frasier shared valuable graphic design principles, information visualization advice, and step-by-step guidance on how to use your data to create infographics (or other visualizations) which clarify, sell, or simply make information more accessible. They shared inspiring examples of infographic design and participants practiced creating an information visualization of their choice.

Use the information learned to submit an entry to the Data Storytelling Contest.  The deadline is July 8 and winners will be announced at the Symposium on July 18. Your data definitely doesn't need to be university-related, but if you don't have data handy, www.berkeley.edu(link is external)CalAnswers(link is external) (with data about students, procurement, HR, and research), and CalPlanning(link is external) (with data about finances) are all potential sources.
